Kids Fishing Clinics

Get your kids hooked on fishing with 1/2 Day Fishing Clinics* offered by Skills2Fish. Your children will learn how to tie basic knots, cast a rod, set up basic tackle box and how to stay safe when fishing. All fishing equipment and drinking water is supplied. Book early as there are limited spaces and classes available.

Dates: 27th & 30th September and 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 11th October

*Conditions apply: Parents must be present to assist

Mandurah Visitor Centre Fishing Clinic for Kids

Or join the 3 hour fishing clinic commencing at the Mandurah Visitors Centre at 10.00am sharp. (Please be early as there will be some paperwork requiring completion prior to the activity).

This clinic will cover: Basic fishing. This is a catch and release activity.

Safety, tackle set up, knot tying and where to source fishing rules and regulations.

The training will be completed at Henry Sutton Grove and includes: how to put a rod together and casting it, then some fishing will be undertaken. Parents must transport their children between each the Mandurah Visitor Centre and Henry Sutton Grove.

Age group: between 7 and up (parents must be present)

Group size: maximum of 12 kids

All fishing equipment supplied. Own transportation required.

Parents or Guardian must be present and assist

As this fishing clinic is conducted outside it may be affected by weather conditions. Participants will be notified if dates or location need to be changed.

The Mandurah Pirate Cruise

Venture through Mandurah’s inland waterways and canals on a fun pirate adventure for children and adults of all ages. You can steer the pirate wheel, ring the bell, dress up as a pirate on board Mandurah’s very own Pirate Ship while enjoying the scenery and spotting dolphins.


Night Ramble at Dwellingup Forest Heritage Centre

Explore the bush at night with a spotlighting tour with zoologist Sarah Way from Ways To Nature! Learn about the Jarrah forest’s fascinating nocturnal wildlife as you take a walk around the bush trails of Dwellingup’s Forest Discovery Centre and Jarrah Forest Lodge. Search for the animals creating the curious hoots, croaks, rustlings and eye-shines observed in the bush after sunset. Best suited for children 6 years and above. Find out more here.

School Holidays at Critters Conservation Centre

Join in the educational ‘Prevent Extinction Display’ at Critters Conservation Centre at the Mandurah Forum and meet special guest “Terence the Triceratops” who will be on display along with other fossils, interactive items and prevent extinction info graphics. Spring Sensory Science

These School Holidays, enjoy Spring Sensory Science at Lakelands Shopping Centre!
Learn to make your own Slime, Kaleidoscope and/or Clay Creature with the freedom fairies. The free activities run from 11am to 2pm daily between October 1st and 7th. Activities take place every 15 minutes and are located in the Curious Creatures pop-up zone, opposite Muffin Break.

Get the Kids lost

Amaze Miniature Park has a hedge and circular maze and extensively landscaped gardens to explore. Take a self-guided tour past the ornamental lake and miniature steam and diesel trains, canals, locks and barges to the town of Abington, the oldest continually inhabited town in England. After strolling through the garden, treat yourself to an ice cream, cold refreshment or coffee from the kiosk.

It’s Show Time at King Carnival

Get all your favourite showbags at King Carnival with WA’s biggest showbag operator on site on the 26th, 27th and 28th of September from 10am to 5pm. Over the long weekend there is also free face painting and balloon magic. And the great American smoked BBQ food stall will be there with a wide array of delicious goodies for sale.

Cuddle a koala at Cohunu Koala Park

Get up close to Australia’s favourite animal at the Cohunu Koala Park. Have a cuddle of these loveable, furry friends and go gaga over the adorable baby koalas. There are over 15 koalas in the colony plus native wildlife roaming free through the park available for you to hand feed.

Burn some energy

South Yunderup’s Adventurescape, is a giant adventure playground and a place for the entire family. Your kids will enjoy climbing atop a 9 metre windmill tower, zipping on a flying fox or playing with Pickles the Pig.

Being one of the favourite playgrounds with the Mandurah locals, Quarry Adventure Park in Meadow Springs has something for all ages with BBQs, viewing platforms, toddler and adventure playgrounds, bike paths and a grass area to kick the footy.

Mandurah’s King Carnival boasts 18-hole mini golf, rides, trampolines, arcade games and water slides.

Or everyone can enjoy inflatable fun at the Indoor Inflatable World.


Have a wheely good time

Explore and be active with the kids on a bike ride. In Mandurah there are excellent cycle paths along the coast and Mandurah Foreshore, around Peel Inlet and into Dolphin Marina. There are many places to stop for a drink or bite to eat along the way too. Bikes and helmets can be hired from Mandurah Boat and Bike Hire, with cycle guide maps also provided.

If you want to go bush, the Marrinup Cycle Trail on the outskirts of Dwellingup is a family friendly cross-country loop travelling through Jarrah forest. Or explore Lane Poole Reserve, Dwellingup, on mountain bikes with Dwellingup Adventures.

Be a zookeeper 4 A Day

Are your children wildlife enthusiasts? Great, did you know they can be a professional zookeeper for a day at Ranger Red’s Zoo and experience first-hand handling and feeding the animals? They will learn how over 100 species of birds and animals are cared for and get up close to Tasmanian Devils, koalas, kangaroos, snakes, ferrets, lizards and a variety of bird species. Take a train trip

If your children love trains, a train ride on Mandurah’s Mini Toot, the children’s sized Tourist Fun Train, or on board the Hotham Valley Tourist Train in Dwellingup will make for a fantastic day trip away from Perth.

Satisfy your bored teenager

It’s the first day of the holidays and your teens are already saying they are bored? 

At Trees Adventure in Dwellingup, they can challenge themselves on West Australia’s first tree ropes course offering nine different levels and over 20 flying foxes. If they cannot get enough of climbing, head to Mandurah Indoor Rock Climbing Centre for some more action. 

If your kids love skateboarding, they will enjoy the skate parks at Halls Park Mandurah and in Jarrahdale, Serpentine and Mundijong. 

Water maniacs can hire a kayak, paddle board or jet ski. For more adrenaline fuelled fun, cruise on Mandurah Cruises’ Spirit of Adventure high-speed vessel on the Dolphin Adventure Cruise. Or take the whole family white water rafting with Dwellingup Adventures.

Animal lovers can enjoy a scenic trail ride at Waroona’s Langford Hill Riding Farm, set in the beautiful Darling Ranges. It conducts riding lessons every second Saturday and week-long residential camps for children every school holidays. Langford Riding Farm has quiet and experienced horses and ponies to cater for all riders from the age of six upwards.
