Brrrrrrrr, winter has definitely arrived! This season usually means staying indoors and rugged up next to the fire place, but not in the Peel Region. There are plenty of things to explore and experience in Mandurah and the Peel in the cold season.

Escape to Boddington for an ‘adventurous’ and unique golf experience. Take the kids for a family trip to Pinjarra where they can have the opportunity to have their ‘hands on experience’ or hit the road to Waroona where they will discover the secretes of milk. Visit the Manning Tractor and Machinery Museum in Serpentine and discover some fascinating collections or spend those chilly nights in a warm and cosy restaurant in Mandurah.

1. Get active with a few games at the Boddington Golf Club, or relax at the club: located just over an hour South East of Perth discover a totally new golf adventure, where the rusticity and uniqueness of the club will offer you a different experience. The best time of the year to visit the Boddington Golf course is winter, here you will find 18 holes dry course with red sand and bright greens that are best played on during the winter months. It is a very family friendly environment with the meeting room often allocated for children to sit and watch DVD’s and let mum and dad enjoy a relaxing drink at the end of the day. Even if you aren’t a golfer The Boddington Golf Club will have something for you! The course is available to visitors for a fee of $10 into the honesty tin provided on site. Ladies day is Wednesday and both men and women play on Saturdays. The Community Club is their clubhouse and offers evening meals on Friday nights to everyone and a fully stocked bar.


2. Spend a family outing in Pinjarra at the Peel Zoo and lunch at the Redcliffe on the Murray: head to Peel Zoo in Pinjarra for a unique ‘hands on experience’. Hold a python, pet the kangaroos, tickle a ferret or feed the parrots. Fun guaranteed, not only for the little ones! When the day is over at the zoo, why not have dinner across the road at the Redcliffe on the Murray. Unwind after a busy day with the sounds of the kookaburras laughing, the Murray River stirring, and the wind brushing through the tall trees that surround the breathtaking restaurant. Less than an hour from Perth, it’s sure to be a winner with kids of all ages!



3. Learn about some history with the family at Serpentine’s Hugh Manning Tractor and Machinery Museum: stay warm this winter by visiting Serpentine’s Hugh Manning Tractor and Machinery Museum, only 45 minutes south-east of Perth. A fascinating collection of over 60 vintage tractors and machinery from all over the world. Most of the collection has been restored to excellent working condition, after having served the farming community in the state of Western Australia from the early 1900's. Great for those family trips or getting the boys together for a day. Admission price is $4 per adult, and $1 per child.


4. Snuggle Up at one of the Mandurah’s award-winning restaurants! Just under an hour’s drive from Perth lays Mandurah, most known for their spectacular beaches. However in the wintertime their award winning restaurants close the windows and light up the fireplaces filling the restaurant with warmth and life. Enjoy the best scenario and the natural water playground of Western Australia. Take a food and wine adventure from a different perspective and let the beauty of the wildlife amaze your eyes these cold days. Get warm and cosy in one of our best restaurants where the view will relax you during winter.
